Bass Lake, IN.
I need ya’ll to seriously listen to this one. Capiche?
Bass Lake Indiana is one of the best hidden gems I have found so far.
To conclude my freshman year of college out in Indiana, I spent the week out in the Northern parts of the state. My best friend from college invited me to go camping with her family, and I make it a rule to never say no to an adventure.
Now, I have been to dozens of lakes in my lifetime. I am an avid paddleboarder, who asks “do you think I can paddle there?” at every single lake I see. I have been trying to expand my lake knowledge this past year and paddleboard in as many places as I can.
So yeah, the moral of the story, I’ve been to a lot of lakes.
Bass Lake was by far the best lake I have found in Indiana, but also in the top 5 lakes, I’ve been to yet.
Now yes, I have been to quite a few colorado lakes that are absolutely stunning and some of the best adventure spots in the country. I don’t want you to think I am undermining those in any way.
But the truth is, something about the vibe out at bass Lake was immaculate. 100% passed the vibe check.
After all that paddleboard talk, I have to be honest with you… I didn’t paddleboard here. I wasn’t able to bring it along because I had to leave straight from the campsite to the airport to fly home. It came home by car via my father.
So yeah, this isn’t a paddleboard lake review. Just genuinely an amazing hidden gem in the northern parts of Indiana.
The campsites are very nice and well kept up. The camper section is very homey and everyone is relatively friendly. The lake is clean and you don’t get grossed out swimming in it. It is boat-friendly, while also swim-friendly.
We took a boat out to watch a sunset one night and the views were insane. The lake houses surrounding the lake don’t overpower the beauty of the lake, but rather add to the aesthetic. The sun sets behind a line of trees and reflects off the waters.
Nothing beats good old fashion camping with your family and friends at a lake. I’ve been searching for the perfect one ever since I moved out to Indiana. This is top of the list at the current moment.
Just a genuine reminder that adventure and beauty are everywhere. You don’t have to be in colorful Colorado to experience what nature has to offer.
